I'm not at all fond of het, so it says a lot that I tried this after reading "The Difference Engine" and ended up thoroughly enjoying it. I'm glad to see it reposted.

I can enjoy Rodney with everyone (well except Carson) and I love Elizabeth/Rodney. I think it used to be the biggest het ship back when the show first started. I love how you wrote them here especially. The casual sex and friendship with both of them knowing they'd never go beyond that. You've really fleshed out her character as well.
There was a lot here I enjoyed immensely and maybe I should start keeping a notepad open to make notes while I read, because then I could tell you which parts specifically. But you'll just have to do with; Great job.

It took me awhile to find this and I'm so glad I did. I've been in the mood for long stories lately and I really like the way you handled Elizabeth/Rodney.

My favorite part though is the verbal contest between John and Rodney in my bed... and how they're completely on the same page in their one word conversations :)

I have enjoyed this story immensely. Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it felt like a fourth character in this triangle was Elizabeth's isolation and loneliness. She has McKay in her bed, and a very caring relationship with Sheppard but she doesn't have with either one of them what they have with each other. But she doesn't come off as a sad person! Also the feeling that Sheppard could have messed with the M/W relationship but wouldn't because of his love and respect for Elizabeth. Or maybe I'm all wrong. Thank you for the story.

Just awesome! I really enjoyed this - I found this one of the better fic descriptions of Weir I've seen, one that attempted to flesh out so much we didn't see, but could have in canon. I particularly liked how you wove in the arc of the series & how it evolved to the McShep in a nicely logical way from both Jeannie's & Elizabeth's insights. Many thanks for posting ;D

Okay, heaven knows how I missed this when you first posted ... I've just read it (well, stayed up far too late last night!) and WOW. Y'know, initially I was put off by the Elizabeth Factor -- not that I dislike her, but I have read so many bad depictions of her in fanfic. (And I was afraid she might end up with John, and that would be a very bad thing for them both.)

This was not a bad depiction: it was fabulous. It hooked and worked and ached. She's tough and competent (and vulnerable, but nobody gets to see that), as expert in her own field as Rodney in his, a hell of a lot better at people than John or Rodney.

I love the way that all three of them behave as adults, and as people who are equal but different: Rodney hoping someone's holding the leash (literally as well as figuratively!), John living that rich inner life that never gets past his facade, Elizabeth alone and trying to do the right thing and drawing back gracefully.

And there are some stunning lines in there, some stunning scenes! The non-verbal conversations; the argument in the lab (John shouting, yay!); the sneaky jumper-sex on the way back from Midway ... and plenty of wisdom and rightness -- that they're the last command-level survivors of the initial expedition; John wondering if Rodney just likes him because he doesn't talk much and therefore doesn't say as many dumb things ...

It's lovely, and I will now proceed to read whatever other fic of yours I've missed!

god. I love this fic so much. I'm not the biggest fan of Mckay/Weir but in your fic, I honestly believed the relationship the two of them had.

It was long, it was plotty, it was beautifully written. wow

Wow. This is, like your other fics, very good. An Elizabeth I'd have liked to see on the show, and the allure/sadness/hope of the almost-triangle that still manages its own kind of grace and stability is... gorgeous.
